Szeptycki (2007) treats this as Class Protura, with several orders. Here we have used Order Protura to fit our ranking assignments for related groups (e.g., the "entognaths"), though this will soon require an overhaul. It appears likely that Protura, Diplura and Collembola will all be treated as classes alongside Insecta within Hexapoda
